I have been trying to organize my life lately. I thought I would start to share some tips with others as well.
As many of us have watched on HGTV and other channels, they do the KEEP or TOSS technique to de-clutter.
I have recently used this approach as I have moved from a house to an apartment. First, I asked myself if there was a huge sentimental value to the item. For instance, if it was a gift from someone or irreplaceable. It MIGHT be something I choose to keep, for right now anyway. It is important to also realize that you do not have to keep everything just because it was a gift. Once it is your property, you should be able to choose to do with it as you please without feeling any guilt.
Another approach is asking yourself when you actually have used this item or will use the item. If you haven't used it, do you think that you actually will? Is it even in style anymore? Are the textbooks outdated? Is it worth the space and dust? These are many of the reasons that I have donated to GoodWill or charities.
In closing, don't be afraid to TOSS! It is amazing how refreshed you will feel after you do.
Good Luck with your organizing :)
